The idea behind Abbey Blog 2010

Many of you are in Europe for the first time. Your experiences here will be new and exciting and you`ll want to share them with your friends and family back home. As part of World Civilizations (HIST 102) you will be keeping an active class blog that discusses and summarizes what you learned in the course and connects understandings developed in the classroom with your experiences of being in France. Each week an assigned group of students will work together to write text for the blog, post pictures, create web-links and perhaps even create video!

Though there will be a class-centered portion of the blog I encourage you to use the blog as a way of talking about your full experience in the Abbey program. Individually or as a group you should create postings about the Abbey Extracurricular Days, The Loire Alive: The Valley Around Us program, The Paris Week, your weekends abroad and your time in Pontlevoy. Use this as a way to tell those at home about your educational experience and create a record for future Abbey students so they can get a feel for what the program is like.

Students, friends and family should feel free to respond to the blog. And students who are not official bloggers that week are encouraged to also contribute. Did you go to an interesting market that you would like to tell others about? Did you see a monument that fascinated you and you want to research more? Was there a particular interesting museum that you saw over the weekend? Did you find a super-cool cafe in Paris or cheep accommodation that you want to tell your fellow students to visit? Post any of this and more on our blog.
