Future Abbey Students,
There comes a time towards the end of the Abbey program when all you think about is going home. Sure that is the thing everyone is looking forward to but at the same time, dont be so consumed in wanting to go back to the states. I say this because you wont be able to experience this again. Even if you come back to Pontlevoy, you wont have the same group of people and you wont have your room or anything you had when you were here. This experience is once in a lifetime and you should hold it dearly to your heart. The last 3 months for me have been the best thing ever and I wouldn't take anything back or change anything that has happened to me since i have been here. There may be alot of unnecessary drama or people around that you dont particularly care for, but these people are like family. You dont always want to be around them but you still love them no matter what. And even if you do hate them then you want to see them around anyway so you can think to yourself "hey i dont like you and its ok because we are at the Abbey." You might not be able to talk to your friends and family back home all of the time like you want to but that just pushes you to make friends here and spend actual time with them instead of just talking in the hallway for a few minutes when the two of you cross paths. I know I drifted off track but the point is that dont rush the time to come when you can go home because this is precious time that should be cherished because you cant get it back. Especially when you are back at home and you walk out of your bedroom to walk down the hallway to talk to a friend and you realize that you aren't in the Abbey and the friend you went to talk to is now back at their home which is like hundreds of miles away and it isnt so easy to see their face and talk to them anymore. That sucks I know. Cherish everything that happens here because it will never be the same. Well that is the end of that.
